Could your Change team benefit from a Change Capability Manager?
As more organisations invest in Change Management functions, there is one role I am starting to see more regularly and for me it's a bit of a game changer, The Change Capability Manager.
Most Change teams are built around delivery. Change Managers, Change Leads, Analysts… all focused on supporting programmes and initiatives.
Just this last week, I've had conversations with two Heads of Change that have hired a Change Capability Manager into their team recently. The role brings huge value because they focus on the long-term foundations that often get neglected when teams are busy delivering.
They help create consistency across the team, building toolkits, templates, and frameworks that actually work in your organisation. They improve quality and standards by ensuring Change approaches are repeatable, measurable, and aligned across programmes, rather than every Change Manager doing things their own way.
They also play a key role in developing people. Coaching junior practitioners, supporting career pathways, embedding best practice, and raising the overall maturity of the function over time. And importantly, they help organisations shift from “Change as project support” to Change as a strategic capability.
If your Change team is growing, a Change Capability Manager role can be one a really smart hire, because it improves delivery now, but also strengthens your organisation’s ability to adapt long-term.
